Welcome to Berkeley Park

The Very Best of Denver, Old and New

There’s no denying the main artery of Berkley runs directly down Tennyson Street with literally dozens of bars, restaurants, breweries, boutiques, bookstores, and more to keep residents plenty busy. But that’s only a portion of the story you’ll write if you decide to call Berkley home because just as it’s recently ushered in an influx of amazing, new local businesses, much of the neighborhood’s charm comes from landmarks that have been here for decades.

Like Lakeside Amusement Park, marking the western border of the Berkley neighborhood, located along the western side of Sheridan Blvd. Opened in 1908 and still family-owned, Lakeside is not only considered a historical gem to the city of Denver, it’s one of the oldest amusement parks in the U.S. and the oldest operating amusement park in Colorado.

There’s also the Oriental Theater, located on 44th Street and Tennyson, dating back to the 1920s, offering residents an eclectic lineup of artists and performances in a charming and intimate theater setting.

And while these historical relics continue to add to the character of the neighborhood in nostalgic and charming ways, the list of locally-owned stores and restaurants popping up and thriving along Tennyson reads like a list of honor roll students at a special graduation for smart kids. From popular bars like Local 45 with its homey backyard vibe and the Berkley Inn with its no-frills taps and pool tables, to favorite eats like Hops & Pie, El Chingon, Denver Biscuit Company, Biju’s Little Curry and Vital Root (all-vegan), as well as hidden gems like DeSteeg microbrewery (whose entrance is hidden in an alley) and less- edible favorites like the BookBar (which actually does serve fancy snacks and wine), to women’s clothing stores, artisan boutiques, jewelry stores and So. Much. More.

Best of all, there’s an easy way to sample all the fantastic businesses, chefs, artists, yoga teachers, brewers, musicians, and more that make up this incredible community. Simply stop by First Fridays on Tennyson, Denver’s oldest Art Walk. It’s the ultimate showcase of what makes this neighborhood such a great place to live. And while you’re here, pop down a side street or two and check out the charming residences that make it truly feel like home.
